Residents Name a Long-Time Car Show Favourite Best in Show
This year’s 11th Annual Spruce Lodge Car Show included a new tradition and a very special full-circle moment for our community.
For the first time, Spruce Lodge residents had the opportunity to vote for their favourite vehicle at the show. The idea came from Jason Partridge, Branch Manager at Ideal Supply, who generously provided a “Best in Show – Residents’ Choice” trophy for the occasion.
After the ballots were counted, the residents had made their choice: Cruiser #19, Oliver “Ollie” Davidson and his beautiful 1967 Chevrolet C-10 Shortbox Truck.
For those who know the history of the Spruce Lodge Car Show, it was a particularly fitting choice.
Part of the Car Show Family Since the Beginning
Ollie has been part of the Spruce Lodge Car Show since our very first event in 2015.
Year after year, he has returned with his much-loved 1967 Chevrolet, often accompanied by a collection of nostalgic A&W memorabilia. His display has become a familiar sight at the show, turning heads while bringing back memories and sparking conversations among residents, visitors and fellow car enthusiasts.
But Ollie’s contribution to the event has always extended well beyond his own vehicle.
Over the past 11 years, he has helped promote the Spruce Lodge Car Show to car enthusiasts throughout Perth County and beyond. His enthusiasm and support have helped introduce new cruisers to the event and contributed to its growth into the community gathering it is today.
We are incredibly grateful for the loyalty and enthusiasm he has brought to the show year after year.
A Full-Circle Moment
There is another connection that made this year’s Residents’ Choice award especially meaningful: Ollie is also a resident of Hamlet Estates, right here on the Spruce Lodge campus.
Having our residents select the truck of someone who has supported this event from its very beginning made the inaugural award feel particularly special.
The Spruce Lodge Car Show has always been about more than the vehicles on display. It is an opportunity to bring residents, families, car enthusiasts and members of the broader community together. It creates opportunities to share stories, revisit memories and enjoy a day together.
Ollie and his ’67 Chev have been part of that story for more than a decade.
